Hyderabad: Governor Shri Jishnu Dev Varma has given his nod to the historic “Bhoo Bharati” Act, which is expected to transform the revenue system in Telangana. In the wake of this, Revenue, Housing, Information, and Civil Relations Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy has instructed officials to speed up the implementation of the law. The act is meant to offer efficient and integrated revenue services to the people, addressing long-pending land-related issues across the state.
Speaking at the Secretariat on Thursday, where Revenue Department Principal Secretary Naveen Mittal presented a copy of the approved bill, Minister Srinivasa Reddy expressed gratitude to everyone involved in formulating the legislation. He said that the Land India Act, which is known locally as the “Bhoo Bharati” Act, was developed to serve the welfare of the common man by resolving land disputes and streamlining revenue services.
Land Problems Addressed
Minister Srinivasa Reddy acknowledged the plight of farmers and residents due to the archaic Revenue Act of 2020. He said that land disputes have haunted almost every village in Telangana. Criticizing the previous government’s fragmented approach to revenue administration, the Minister said, “The revenue system was manipulated for selfish interests. Our government has worked tirelessly to decentralize revenue services and make them accessible at the village level.”
To this end, the government proposes to upgrade the administration of each revenue village by appointing a revenue officer. This is bound to bring greater transparency, efficiency, and fairness into the system. The common masses of people and the farmers have long suffered at the hands of bureaucratic delay and corruption.
People-Centric Governance
Highlighting the government’s commitment towards welfare, he said, “The Indiramma government works as per people’s aspirations. Revenue department too has to strive towards the dream of bringing governance to the citizens’ doorstep. The officers and staff in this department have to join hands in their pursuit, ensuring the smiles and welfare of people.”.
The Bhoo Bharati Act vividly portrays the concern of the government toward a trasparent and citizen-friendly administration. Involving public opinions and grassroots issues, the law will provide a strong foundation for sustainable development and social justice in Telangana.
With the Governor’s approval, framing the rules and regulations needed for the proper execution of the act will be followed. The government is committed to the immediate implementation of these changes in order to live up to its promise of an equitable and accessible revenue system.
