Hyderabad, January 8: Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has instructed officials to complete the Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for the Future City, Shamirpet, and Medchal metro lines by the end of March 2025. He emphasized that the Central Government approval for these projects should be received and the tender process initiated by the end of April so that the work can be implemented quickly.
Chief Minister reviewed the progress of metro expansion plans, building radial roads and elevated corridors during a high-level meeting. “There is an urgent need to think of comprehensive planning in terms of future growth to improve connectivity between the city”, he said.
Metro Expansion Plans
The CM discussed how urgent land acquisition is for three crucial metro routes
Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) to Future City Metro (40 km)
JBS to Shamirpet Metro (22 km)
Paradise to Medchal Metro (23 km)
He instructed the officials to concentrate more on these routes, which will be vital for building connectivity and easing traffic bottlenecks. He also instructed that proper thought should be given while aligning metro towards already available infrastructures like three flyovers along the National Highway on the Medchal route.
Integrated Junction Development
He also stated that the two metro lines for Shamirpet and Medchal should start from one junction only. That junction will be high in standard, and it would be a huge hub for the passengers. He instructed the officials to prepare a detailed plan for the junction so that modern facilities are available there and the city is taken care of.
Elevated Corridors and Radial Roads
He also spoke about elevated corridors. “We will study the need at the field level to design an effective alignment, so that elevated corridors are made to reduce travel time and ensure uninterrupted connectivity between different parts of Hyderabad,” he said.
In addition, he has spearheaded the development of radial roads under Hyderabad Growth Corridor Limited that will enhance intra-city transportation. The roads are designed to support the Metro and will help connect in and around the city.
Future-Proof Urban Planning
Revanth Reddy pointed out that the projects should be planned in advance to ensure all of them cater to the city’s rapid growth and increasing population. He stated that the collaboration of departments will be required in order to avoid delay and to meet the milestone in the timeline set.

Attended the Meeting
The review meeting saw the presence of CM’s Advisor Vem Narender Reddy, top government officials, Hyderabad Metro Rail MD, among others. The focus was on challenge identification and strategic action plan towards deadline completion.
This is a comprehensive infrastructure development project that should enhance Hyderabad’s transportation network and reduce traffic congestion while promoting sustainable urban growth.
