The IPS officer trainees of 2023 batch were being addressed by Hon’ble Governor of Telangana, Sri Jishnu Dev Varma at Raj Bhavan today. He guided newly posted IPS officers in Telangana State regarding principles of efficient policing and public service in the session.
Public Connection and Governance-Focus.
Governor Jishnu Dev Varma said in his address that the public needs to be built on a strong relationship. “It is essential to travel extensively, meet people, and understand their grievances. Accessibility to the common citizen is the backbone of good governance,” he observed.
The Governor further added that they must win the trust and respect of the communities that they work for. To him, that is the only way to good policing and governance.
Core Values for Public Service
Governor Dev Varma motivated the officers to be honest, dedicated, and transparent in their work. He recognized that they would face obstacles, and said, “You will encounter hurdles in your career, but it is important to stay steady and committed to the greater good of society.”
These values, he explained, are the basis for ethical and effective public administration.

The Governor congratulated the trainees on their assignment to Telangana, stating that the state offered immense opportunities to improve policing and public administration through innovation. “It is a state that encourages new ideas and solutions,” he added.
The Governor urged the trainees to take full advantage of all that Telangana had to offer in order to adequately contribute to its development.
Training and Mentorship at Telangana Police Academy
The trainee officers were accompanied by Smt. Abhilasha Bisht, IPS, Director of the Raja Bahadur Venkata Rama Reddy Telangana Police Academy. She plays a very significant role in ensuring that IPS officers are well equipped to face modern policing challenges of diverse nature.
The trainee officers thanked the Governor for their guidance and told him that they would serve the state of Telangana with integrity and honesty.
The interaction brought out the vision of the Governor to be compassionate, innovative, and ethical in governance. It also reinforced the commitment of Telangana to nurturing the next generation of police officers, equipped with the skills and values needed for public service.
