
To start with bang, Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi lit up the events of the opening ceremony of 38th National Games with a glittering welcome speech on 28 January, 2025, at Uttarakhand. Taking together some of the nation’s topnotch talent into one prestigious forum, this time has come along quite well with immense hope and cheer upon the faces of some of the country’s very best.
The contingent of Telangana has 212 players participating in 23 disciplines of sports such as athletics, shooting, archery, badminton, lawn tennis, gymnastics, and table tennis, among others. The contingent is being led by Chef De Mission Smt. A. Sonibala, IFS, Vice Chairman and Managing Director. There are two Deputy Chef de Missions in the form of Sri A. Maheshwar and Sri D. Sanjeeva Reddy. They have a team of full-time supporting staff. Their leadership and organisational skills allow the athletes to purely focus on giving out their best performances.
Two flag bearers for Telangana in the National Games are two outstanding athletes: Ms. T. Chikitha, an international archer, and Master Dhanush Srikanth, an ace international shooter known for his exceptional achievements in the Deaflympics. Such young stars can be taken as embodiments of the spirit and determination of athletes from Telangana.
Sri Jithender Reddy, Special Representative of Telangana at Delhi and Advisor for Sports Affairs, Sri Shivsena Reddy was also there to witness this grand opening ceremony. Their presence and words of encouragement have really added up to the morale of the players, making them give their best.
Something that the various athletes of Telangana are looking forward to is, therefore, these National Games: they will be providing the much-needed competitions for Telangana’s athletes to hone in and achieve competitive success with national prestige as well as international breakthrough possibilities.
