The Chief Minister of Telangana, Revanth Reddy, announced a series of welfare initiatives for farmers and landless agricultural laborers which will take effect on January 26, 2025, when the nation celebrates the 75th anniversary of the adoption of its Constitution.
The Chief Minister said that the government shall continue to support agriculture for the economic stability of rural families.
Indiramma Atmiya Bharosa Scheme
Among other things, the launch of the “Indiramma Atmiya Bharosa Scheme” is to deliver direct financial assistance to landless agricultural laborers’ families. Each such family is to receive ₹12,000 every year.
Insurance for Farmers
To further enhance the agricultural sector, the government has decided to take insurance coverage on every cultivable acre in the state without applying any terms and conditions. The amount of insurance being provided to the farmers is set to be increased from ₹10,000 to ₹12,000 per acre.
Ration Card New
The cabinet approved new ration cards for all those families who, up to now, did not have them, which is another long-standing demand of many families within the State.
Inclusions and Exclusions from the Rythu Bharosa
The Chief Minister clarified that the Rythu Bharosa will not exist on certain types of non-agricultural lands, that is, lands in mining areas, real estate ventures, roads, and lands used for residential or commercial purposes, lands otherwise acquired by the government for other projects.
Chief Minister: “Should this concept be implemented, it shall bring relief to farmers and workers across Telangana, being only a reflection of the government’s commitment to inclusive growth.”
