The state is gearing up to reveal its new energy policy on January 9. The policy is designed to attract domestic and foreign investments, thereby making Telangana a leader in the energy sector.
It is known for the achievements it has made in electricity generation, being a state producing surplus power. The new government is, on the other hand, miles ahead of the previous government that had not drafted an energy policy even after over a decade. This administration has ambitious goals, producing 22,448 MW of electricity by 2030, of which 20,000 MW will come from renewable green energy sources.
Plans for a thermal power project at the Naini Coal Block in Orissa are underway. At the same time, Genco-Singareni is gearing up to set up another power project in Ramagundam. These developments point out the importance of energy as a significant contributor to Telangana’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP).
Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka has recently reminded that the government was serious about job creation. On this day, he had been distributing appointment letters to Assistant Engineers (AEs) at Genco at a ceremony organized near the statue of Rajiv Gandhi in front of the State Secretariat. It was another day in the calendar of recruitment under the present government.
Vikramarka seized the moment to speak of the transparent recruitment process. He pointed out that there were no errors in the examination, and thus 56,000 appointments were made in various departments. Every month, appointment letters are issued, a continuous process for providing jobs every month. The late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, whose statue was also present at the event, was remembered for his vision and contribution to India’s technological advancement.
Adding to the day’s highlights, the Deputy Chief Minister unveiled the logo of Tarfid—a product of Singareni Collieries Company Limited. This brand, representing sweat drops, signifies the hard work of Singareni’s coal belt workforce. Vikramarka praised Singareni for its initiatives aimed at elevating local talent to national and international platforms.
Energy Secretary Sandeep Kumar Sultania, CMD of Transco D Krishna Bhaskar, CMD of Singareni Balram Naik, and others were present during the event. They together once again confirmed their commitment to state energy innovation and workforce development.
