Hyderabad, Telangana — Chief Minister of Telangana Revanth Reddy has unveiled transformative projects for the upgradation of the state’s energy infrastructure. He is all set to introduce an underground electricity cable system and encourage renewable energy so that energy can be maintained and supplied to the people with minimal interruptions in the future. This fits perfectly into the new Telangana Clean and Green Energy Policy 2025, which is going to focus on innovation and green solutions.
Underground high voltage power cable system.
The Telangana government has decided to establish a strong underground power cable system along the Hyderabad Outer Ring Road (ORR). This will replace the overhead lines, most probably improving the energy distribution and solving some of the key challenges. Underground cables will most probably decrease the losses of electricity, end the disruption from storms or any other natural occurrences, and enhance safety. It will also eradicate visual mess and arrange the urban landscape.
This project will introduce many types of cables, such as communication and internet lines, thereby changing the entire infrastructure of the region. The Chief Minister has requested officials to study similar projects that have been executed successfully all over the world and prepare an elaborate plan to execute it properly.
Meeting Rising Electricity Demands
The state of Telangana has witnessed a very high increase in the consumption of electricity. By March 2024, the peak demand already crossed 15,623 MW and is estimated to be around 16,877 MW by March 2025. As the government is well aware of this increase in demand, the government is strategizing on supplying power without breaks during the summer season.
The government takes extra attention toward agriculture and household demands because these have been the largest consumers of generating demand for the state. The government, in the interest of this kind of prerequisite before its time and without losing the grid, tries to manage loads increase without losing any power.
Solar Energy Schemes
Under the Telangana Clean and Green Energy Policy 2025, the government is taking bold initiatives to provide solar energy to every nook and corner of the state. Among them, the initiative most given prominence is targeting tribal villages. Free of cost solar electricity and solar pump sets will be provided to these villages. For this, both the forest and rural welfare departments are now cooperating to implement it as soon as possible.
The other area of focus is the solarization of public buildings. Soon, government offices, schools, and public infrastructure will be equipped with solar power plants to reduce dependence on conventional energy sources. The Chief Minister has asked the officials to make the process of inviting companies for these projects transparent. This initiative is likely to bring down energy costs substantially and promote sustainable practices in public institutions.
Besides looking for incentives for houses to put up solar systems, the government has made it encourage househouldly use solar energy. This will reduce energy costs incurred by homes, meaning a greener future for everyone.
Speaking on the occasion of unveiling Telangana Clean and Green Energy Policy 2025 at the Integrated Command Control Center (ICCC), CM Revanth Reddy is pinning hope on aggressive measures to solve future energy problems. The new energy policy has come into reality today that underlines expansion of capacities in renewable energy and infrastructure development in order to meet the growing demand for energy in the state.

Others participating in the debate are Minister Jupally Krishna Rao, Government Advisor Srinivas Raju, and Chief Secretary Shanti Kumari. It’s their joint action that establishes Telangana’s commitment to energy and sustainability targets.
Conclusion
The modernization of energy structures in Telangana and the use of renewable energy means much more effort in the line towards sustainable development. In yet another step into having a healthy, reliable supply of energy to people, Telangana offers its innovative means through underground cabling and other aspects of incorporating solar energy.
